A SILENT EXCHANGE
By Peter Hilton

A Silent Exchange is an swashbuckling mime (fought to a silent movie score) that was written to celebrate a time when filmmaking was still in its embryonic stage of development and the number of female directors, editors, writers and producers were such that the period between 1910 and the late 1920’s has been termed the golden age for women in Hollywood.

In the Hollywood of today, however, the statistics are sadly unbalanced and out of the top 250 films made in 2001, only 6% of the directors were women.
